48” x 36” - Oil on canvas - 2020 - SOLD
#1 is where the idea started….it was this painting and a circular crayon drawing from 2019. I was trying to capture the feeling of being on the water with kelp. I was missing my life of working on the ocean.

48” x 36” - Oil on Canvas - 2022 - SOLD
#2 reflects my memory of those days where the heat is unbearable, the ocean is velvety smooth, there is no wind, clear skies and maybe the sound of a motorboat far, far away. The water is clear and gets dark quickly

36” x 48” - Oil on Canvas - 2022 - SOLD
#3 reflects the motion of the water around me. The feeling of my kayak skimming the surface, moving fast like the kelp fronds, like ribbons, all of us flowing in the same direction.

36” x 48” - Oil on Canvas - 2023
Just off the shore of Stuart Island I looked down into the pearlescent sheen of the largest kelp fronds and there for one second, a flash of an eye, a twirl of a leg, and then in one blink, she was gone.

Diptych - 72” x 48” - Oil on Canvas - 2023
Skookumchuk comes to mind. “Skookum” means strong or powerful and “chuk” means water. Just off the rocks where hikers watch the spectacle, there is a quiet recirculating eddy, everything bobbing and jostling around, waiting for a ride to the surface.

36” x 48” - Oil on Canvas - 2024
My prized possession as a kid was my new 64 color box of crayons. My prized possession as an adult is my kayak that allows me to witness “nature’s box of crayons”.

40” x 40” - Oil on Canvas - 2023 - SOLD
Cha· ryb· dis kə-ˈrib-dəs : -noun : a whirlpool off the coast of Sicily personified in Greek mythology as a female monster.” Sometimes the whirlpools haunt me in my sleep.

Diptych - 72” x 48” - Oil on Canvas - 2024
Holding my camera at the surface getting a split shot, looking up and down at the same time, then going deeper, looking up and seeing the distortion of that world I am leaving.

36” x 36” - Oil on Canvas - 2024 - SOLD
#9 it’s about the transparency of the water, the fronds, the bulbs themselves. They are held by the water in it’s spiral motion. It’s a delicate, wistful world down there.

36” x 48” - Oil on Canvas - 2024 - SOLD
When I am snorkeling and moving across the bottom, I am mesmerized by the fragmented prisms of light filtering down to the bottom. I am held there.

48” x 72” - Oil on Canvas - 2024 - SOLD
(Do you think you’d ever marry me?) A lovely, languid, slow and meandering day around the cape. The beach we landed on is white sand, shells, and choked with beach logs. I’m happy and content, and feel so loved. I cannot imagine my life without him. I would have married him the first day I met him.”

36” x 36” - Oil on Canvas - 2024 - SOLD
The bridge! The currents! The excitement! The room of doom! Look where you want to go! Deep diggity dig! The rescues! Feeling alive! It’s all there.
